Thank you for using AskQuran ("we," "us," or "our"). This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and share information when you use our mobile application (the "App").
By using the App, you agree to the collection and use of information in accordance with this Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, please do not use the App.
1. Information We Collect
The information we collect depends on how you use the App.
Personal Information
- User Content: We collect the questions, prompts, and conversations you submit to the App ("Queries") so we can provide responses and save your chat history.
- Account Information: When you create an account, we may collect your name, email address, and a unique user identifier. Your account identifier is associated with your chat history, subscription status, and App usage needed to operate the service. If you sign in with Apple or Google, we receive the information that provider makes available under your settings.
Automatically Collected Information
- Usage Information: We collect information about how you use the App, such as feature usage, interaction timestamps, and aggregated usage metrics.
- Device and App Information: We may collect information such as device type, operating system, and app version.
- Analytics: We use third-party analytics tools (Mixpanel) for privacy-conscious product analytics. We do not include the text of your questions or AI answers in Mixpanel analytics events.
- Notifications: If you allow notifications, we collect an Expo push token to send you requested App notifications, such as a trial reminder.
- Payments: If you purchase a subscription, Apple processes the payment and RevenueCat helps us manage purchase status and entitlements. We do not receive or store your full payment card details.

3. How We Share Your Information
We do not sell your personal information. We may share information only in the following situations:
Service Providers
- AI Provider (OpenAI): We send your Queries and relevant conversation context to OpenAI to generate responses.
- Backend & Hosting (Convex): Data storage and app logic.
- Authentication Providers (Apple and Google):Limited account information is used to sign you in.
- Subscription Provider (RevenueCat): A subscription identifier and purchase-status information are used to manage billing entitlements.
- Analytics (Mixpanel): Product usage events and an account or device identifier are used to understand and improve the App when analytics is enabled.
- Push Notifications (Expo): Push tokens are used to deliver notifications you have allowed.
4. Third-Party AI Services
Our app sends user-provided text input to OpenAI (OpenAI, L.L.C.) for the purpose of generating AI responses.
Data sent may include text entered by the user and conversation context. This data is processed according to OpenAI's privacy policy. We do not send your name, email address, or account identifier to OpenAI as part of this processing.
5. Chat History
Chats are stored in our systems for chat history so you can review your past conversations. They are associated with your account so only you can access your saved conversations.
- Retention: Chats are retained until you delete your account.
- Deletion: You can initiate account deletion in the Profile area of the App. When deletion is completed, we delete your account and associated chat history from our active systems, except where retention is required by law or necessary to resolve a legal, security, or fraud-prevention matter.
6. AI Processing & Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG)
AskQuran uses a Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG) system to deliver accurate, context-aware answers.
- Relevant Quranic text is retrieved from our internal database.
- Your Query and the retrieved content are sent to an AI service.
- We do not send your name, email address, or account identifier to the AI provider as part of this process.
7. Data Storage & Security
We use reasonable measures to protect your information. Data is stored on secure servers. However, no method of transmission is 100% secure.
8. Your Rights and Choices
You can turn product analytics on or off in your Profile settings. You can initiate deletion of your account in the Profile area of the App. You may also contact us to request access to, correction of, or deletion of your personal data.
9. Children's Privacy
AskQuran is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided personal information, please contact us so we can address the request.
